WHAT IS MICROBLADING?
Microblading is a semi-permanent makeup treatment that replicates perfectly applied conventional makeup. This is done by inserting cosmetic pigments into the upper layers of the skin. Also known as 3D Brows, 3D Hairstrokes, Micro-Pigmentation, Brow Embroidery, and Cosmetic Tattooing. Click here for a more thorough explanation.
HOW LONG DOES THE RESULT LAST?
Results vary per client, but for most, results can last 1-2 years. Hair color, skin type, after-care, and lifestyle also affect longevity of the results. Occasional touch-ups are a way to refresh the results. Done correctly, the treatments do not change color and fade naturally away with time. For brows, this allows future flexibility with shape, as standards of beauty change.
-Please be aware that results cannot be guaranteed. Every client has different skin types that will hold the pigment differently and break down at different rates. Because the technician has no control over what occurs during the healing process, additional sessions may be needed after the touch up appointment to obtain optimal results. Additional charges will apply in these rare cases.
IS IT PAINFUL?
Most of our clients report little or no pain. Since the procedure takes a couple hours, some clients have literally slept through it! We leave a topical anesthetic on the eyebrow area for 20 minutes before we begin the process, so this leaves most clients numb during the procedure. However, if your artist begins within that 20 minutes, or if you find that you’re very sensitive, you may report mild discomfort. We use effective topical numbing creams to minimize pain. On a scale of 1 to 10 with “1” being no discomfort, clients often experience between a 2 and 3 with the Dolled Up Brow treatment. Other factors such as menstrual cycles also affect level of sensitivity.
WHO SHOULD AVOID MICROBLADING?
While microblading is great for most people, there are some people who are ineligible for microblading:
-
Those prone to keloids or post-inflammatory hypopigmentation. Unfortunately, since microblading punctures the skin as we add ink, we cannot work with clients with these conditions.
-
If you’ve had Juvederm or other fillers in that area. Depending on the timing, we recommend to get microblading first! Otherwise, check with your doctor. Many artists may request a note from your doctor first.
-
Patients undergoing chemotherapy. Although microblading is great for restoring eyebrows, we would require a doctor’s note in order to perform the procedure for anyone undergoing chemotherapy.
-
If you have any kind of skin condition on or near your eyebrows. This includes eczema, shingles, rashes, or anything else near eyebrows.
-
No Children. Microblading is for adults only! We do not recommend microblading for anyone under the age of 18. It is our policy at not to work with children, even with a consent form.
-
Certain medications allergies may also make you ineligible for the procedure. Please complete the questionnaire during the consultation truthfully.
This covers the major things that might exempt you from getting microblading. If you want to see a complete list, please check out our Terms and Conditions.
WHAT IS A DOLLED UP BROW?
It is our signature treatment, where we create your brow strand-by-strand using lifelike strokes applied directly onto the skin, using a technique called Microblading. The treatment replaces eyebrow pencils, and assures perfectly shaped and balanced brows all-day, everyday. The Dolled Up Brow lasts 1-2 years, then fades naturally. Results may require touchups sooner than 1 year, varies person to person.
WHAT HAPPENS DURING A DOLLED UP BROW CONSULTATION?
Brow hair grade and color is analyzed, and the desired shaper is drawn on with a specialized pencil. We will draw each strand to create a symmetrical, natural-looking brow that is custom-made for your bone structure, giving you the chance to see how dramatically new brows change your face. Once you are satisfied with the shape and thickness, the therapist consults with you on color— we match to ensure we get a shade that is closest to your natural hair color . We will also discuss the procedure, the after-care, how long it takes the skin to heal, and how to ensure the best results. Consultations at Dolled Up By Bri Studios are always free with no obligation to proceed with the treatment.

WHAT HAPPENS DURING A DOLLED UP BROW TREATMENT?
The technician will create your brow by hand, strand by strand. A topical numbing cream is applied that stays on for about 20 minutes, and then a special tool is used to make small, hair-shaped incisions in the skin underneath the brow-- this is the technique is also known as Microblading. The shallow cuts are filled with highest-grade cosmetic pigments selected to match or darken arches. For additional comfort, a second numbing gel is used throughout the procedure. The procedure takes about two hours, with enough time to assess each step of the way.
WHAT IS THE RECOVERY TIME?
There is no downtime, however the brow will take about 10-14 days to fully heal. The brow will soften in color by up to 40-50%. During this period, after-care procedures should be carefully followed. After about 4 weeks, the brows will be at its true state. You will receive a paper/email copy of aftercare instructions after the appointment.
WHAT IS THE PERFECTING SESSION?
The Perfecting Session, done within 4-8 weeks of the initial treatment, is extremely important to ensure perfect results. We use this session to set the shape and color, and make any small adjustments if needed. This session is complimentary.
*Clients with previous permanent brows must have an in person consultation prior to booking a procedure
